Southwest Robotics to World!

Addison Neveau ('24), Featured Writer

For the first time ever the Southwest Robotics team (@swrobotics on Instagram) is going to World in Houston,Texas. After 6 weeks of working nonstop to create a robot that can climb a monkey bar as well as pick up and shoot a ball. They are just one 24 hour bus ride away from putting their robot to the test. The 13 members of the robotics teams still continued to work hard whilst the teacher strike was going on.

“I am so proud of them. They’ve done wonderful this year. It’s been fantastic,” Robotics leader John Pearson said. And now April 20 through April 23 they get to show off all their hard work.

“We worked without our advisor for 3 weeks while [the teachers] were on strike,” El Anderson (‘23) said.

The business sub team and mentors were able to coordinate with families of Southwest students to raise 25,000 dollars to create their robot and travel. You can watch the robotics competition via a live stream and see pictures of their robot on the website swrobotics.com.
