On July 15th, Southwest staff and families received the announcement of the recent hiring of a new assistant principal, Ashley Firouzi.

Ed Bennett, new Southwest principal, released a statement, writing “Congratulations to Ashley Firouzi, new assistant principal at Southwest. Ashley comes to us most recently from Edison High School. When asked what she would like to share with the Southwest staff, she replied, “I am incredibly grateful and excited to re-join the Southwest Family! I student taught at SWHS over 17 years ago, and I look forward to working in partnership with Dr. Bennett, the SWHS admin team, and the SWHS staff to ensure equity for all students and to restore SWHS’s outstanding national reputation. Prior to joining SWHS, I was a lead health/PE teacher in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. On a more personal note, my husband, Rob, and I enjoy spending time with our two dogs Bear and Tabitha. We love exploring different hiking trails and a good comedy show.”
With immense administrative turnover within Southwest and the district, communication will continue to be shared as the 2022-23 school year comes closer.
