Pickleball Club! : Letters to the Editor

A new club was created this year; pickleball is starting in the spring! Juniors Braden Joyce, Eleanor Boger, Erin Joyce, and Makia Conway started the club to bring the fun of pickleball to the Southwest. Already, over 130 students have signed up! Pickleball is a new up-and-coming sport, named the fastest-growing sport in the United States for the past two years, with over 36 million players across the US. It is a paddle sport similar to tennis but easier for beginners to learn! The pickleball courts are smaller than tennis courts, and the game is played at a slower pace. The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors and can be enjoyed all year round. Many celebrities have confessed their obsession with pickleball, including Leonardo DiCaprio and the Kardashians. If you’re looking for a new club or sport to join, give pickleball a chance. The leaders say they are inviting all students to join; this is a club for everyone! You don’t need any prior experience with pickleball to play. For updates and further information, follow their Instagram @swpickleballclub, where you can stay in the loop with all the latest news and developments surrounding this exciting addition to the South West community.
