How to match your prom date

With prom on May 4, Southwest students are scrambling to find the finishing touches for their outfits. Whether you’re going with friends or you have a date, coordinating outfits makes for a great picture and is a lot of fun! There are so many great ways you can match with whoever you’re spending prom with.

1. Complimentary Colors

Complimentary colors are colors opposite each other on the color wheel. Wearing complimentary colors with someone else will make both of your outfits pop. Pull up a color wheel for a standout look this Saturday!

2. Matchers

You can’t go wrong with a color match! Have your date/friend get a tie/dress that is the same color as your outfit. For a less exact match, find a pattern that includes the same color as the other outfit. Either way, this look never fails!

3. Different Shades

This look is similar to the color match but a little different. Try having you and your pair wear different shades of the same color. With this option, you will still match your date while appearing slightly more elevated.

4. Flowers

Flowers are an easy way to match anyone. Trader Joe’s has a beautiful selection of affordable flowers to choose from. Pick out a few of your favorites and get to work. The world is your oyster: make a bouquet, a corsage, or a boutonniere (and one for your date too)!

5. Accessories

Accessories are another great way to make you and your date look put together. There are so many different ways you can go with this one. Add pops of gold or silver with jewelry, a pop of color with socks or hair accessories, or match shoes. These little details will take your prom look to the next level.
