As Southwest Girls’ and Boys’ basketball teams are approaching an exciting season this year, Southwest Students Elise McMillen, Adnan Mohamad, and Jozette Anderson share some insights.
Captain Elise McMillian (‘27)
Q: “What are you looking forward to most this year?”
A: “ I’m probably mostly looking forward to bonding with the team and making memories with each other.”
Q: “How are you feeling about the start of the season so far?”
A: “The first game of the season had an unfortunate ending, with us losing in overtime by one point. However, I’m feeling hopeful about the rest of the season.”
Q: “What’s your favorite part about game day?”
A: “Definitely wearing our full purple techs to school.”
Adnan Mohammad (‘27)
Q: “What’s the team’s biggest strength heading into this season?”
A: “Our team is really well-rounded this year, with lots of diverse skill sets. I’m ready to win state this year.”
Q: “Why should people come watch this year?”
A: “I think people should come to the games because it’s going to be a really good year and I think our record is going to be much better than last year. We are more connected as a team this year so I’m pretty excited.”
Q: “What goals have you set for yourself and the team?”
A: “I have a lot of goals for this year, I’m expecting some exciting plays, and I’m confident in everyone’s skills. My goal for the team is to make it further in sectionals than last year.”
Captain Jozette Anderson (‘27)
Q: “How many years have you been playing basketball?”
A: “I’ve been playing basketball for about 8 years.”
Q: “What are your expectations for this upcoming season?”
A: “Our team is really young so I think we are going to grow a lot during the season. I think we will do great in our conference and overall be a really competitive team.”
Q: “What’s one thing the team does really well together?”
A: “I think our team works really well together in just playing together and having good chemistry on the floor.”
